Social robots
The social intelligence layer for robots that work around people, first inside a table-top robot that delivers early-literacy interventions for children.
Biography
Victor Nikhil Antony is a human-centered roboticist and Computer Science PhD candidate at Johns Hopkins University, where he builds socially assistive robots that deliver longitudinal interventions, including cognitive health support for older adults and early language development for children.
He is an ACM/IEEE HRI Pioneer and a recipient of the Baltimore Innovation Initiative award. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Rochester, where his research spanned AI-powered diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and augmented reality systems supporting deaf-child/hearing-parent communication.
He loves skiing black diamonds in the winter and catching sunsets with friends in the summer.
In Victor's words
“OSV’s support will help me build the social intelligence that any robot interacting with people will need to be truly useful in the real world.
I'm starting with a table-top robot to support children learning to read, and building toward models that enable robots to integrate fluidly and deliver value across domains. I'm grateful for the trust the OSV team has placed in my vision and it emboldened my conviction when I needed it the most.”
