Biography

Wiktoria Pawlak is a bioengineer and AI researcher building a foundation model for mapping bioelectric states in living tissue and predicting their response to electrical interventions.

She earned an MEng in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley with scholarships from the Rafał Brzoska Foundation and the Fung Institute. At Berkeley, she co-developed a piezoelectric platform for electrically stimulating cardiac cells, resulting in a U.S. patent application, and developed CellLense, a computer-vision system for cardiac-cell microscopy.

Previously, she built an agent-based model of bioelectric transitions from healthy glial tissue toward glioblastoma. At ni2o, she authored research on neuromorphic architectures for neural implants. At the Friedrich Miescher Institute (Novartis), she worked on computer vision research for connectomics. Forbes Women Poland named her to its “26 for 2026” list of women to watch. She is also a Solo Grants recipient.

In Wiktoria's words

“Some ideas ask us not to be certain, but not to be afraid. Joining the O’Shaughnessy Fellowships gives me the community and support to pursue my research further with that kind of courage.”
